Museum Security Training

We Can Provide Many Types of Training

Architect’s Security Group, Inc./Steve Keller & Associates has developed and has led numerous training projects at a number of museums. We can provide security training that will meet many of your needs.

On Site Training

We can visit your museum and conduct training. We have programs on the following topics:
1. New museum start-up training
2. Security system operator training
3. General Guard training
4. Training on security for non-security staff
5. Common Sense Supervision, a training program for security and non-security supervisors based on the bestselling book by Roger Fulton, PhD.
6. Technical systems training

Video Training

We have numerous video-based training programs that we produced in conjunction with Horizon Institute. They include a Basic Training Program for Guards, an On-Job-Training Program, Supervisor Training, Technical Training, and general security management training. Inquire about custom seminars. See our link at the top of the page to our Training Products.

Written Training

We have developed several White Papers. Some, but not all, of these are available for sale or even free download at our Articles and Downloads Page.

Mentoring Program

Your security manager may have twenty years of experience with the FBI but that doesn’t assure an understanding of museum security concepts and practices which differ greatly from those in other fields. You can send your Director of Security to our Florida facility to participate in our mentoring program. In a comfortable one-on-one setting we will give him or her a crash course in everything needed to be successful. The duration of training varies from two to five days depending upon the background and experience of the attendee.

Seminars

We offer at least one annual seminar each year. It is generally a general museum security program, usually held in Daytona Beach. We can also conduct on-site seminars in your institution or in your city for all area institutions. Ask us for details. We also do regional seminars in major cities in conjunction with corporate sponsors who pay the tuition of attendees. These programs are generally on topics like how you can reduce your security budget using technology and still improve security. If you would like to be invited to one of these programs, please call us and we will notify you when we visit your city or region.

Our staff has produced and appeared in over 40 training videos, fifty training seminars and hundreds of speaking appearances. Our video training materials train more museum security officers than all other packaged programs combined.
